L.U.M.I. (Leading Urban Minds Intentionally) is a youth-centered movement and community organization based in New Orleans, dedicated to helping young people build real-life connections, cultural pride, and creative confidence.

Founded by a mother who saw the growing disconnection caused by screens and social media, L.U.M.I. was created as an intentional space for youth to unplug, reconnect, and grow. Through hands-on experiences, cultural exploration, and meaningful peer interaction, L.U.M.I. encourages children and teens to lead with purpose, heal through community, and express themselves boldly.

We believe in the power of rooted identity, safe spaces, and joyful gathering. Our programs include:

  • L.U.M.I. Roots – cultural education rooted in New Orleans history and heritage

  • L.U.M.I. Circles – healing and expressive spaces for guided conversations

  • L.U.M.I. Labs – creative workshops blending art, innovation, and storytelling

  • L.U.M.I. Link Ups – monthly real-world meetups focused on connection and fun

L.U.M.I. operates as a hands-on co-op, involving parents, volunteers, and community partners who believe in the power of raising youth with intention and love.

At L.U.M.I., we don’t just develop young minds—we uplift urban brilliance.
